The intersection of Sunset Hills Rd and Hunter Mill Rd is a nightmare for evening commuters and local residents. The inability for vehicles to make a right turn from Sunset Hills Rd onto Hunter Mill even during green lights leads to a 30 minute backup. I took my camera out one evening to film the mess, but don't worry, I edited and sped up the video so you won't have to watch 30 minutes to see everything. These traffic delays are not the result of cars having no where to go. Later in the video you will see a short shot of the Dulles Toll Road as cars fly by. Meanwhile on Sunset Hills the cars stand still. The reason? Three lights stacked on top of each other, no spacing, narrow lanes, short or non existent turn lanes, and a two lane road through an area that receives more than four lanes of volume. The intersection needs to be improved, and its time for us to tell the people in charge to stop delaying.
