The entry-level 2.5-liter four-cylinder produces 178 hp (133 kW / 180 PS) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque. Moving up to the 3.5-liter V6 rewards drivers with 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 248 lb-ft (336 Nm) of torque. Pretty much the same thing applies as to using gamepad. It's just that my hands now have the opposite task compared to using the gamepad. Micro drifting will be a little bit harder since I'm using 2 fingers instead of 1 giant thumb to do it. I was driving around, searching for the elusive Sinks of Gandy cave, which I knew was near Spruce Knob, but I just didn't know precisely where. As I drove deeper and deeper into the remote wilderness, I began to see fewer and fewer people and houses. There are only a couple buildings to be seen in this video, and even those have solar panels on poles standing in the back yard, a testament to the remoteness of the area. At 6:20 in the video, I passed one of the few buildings that I saw in the area. Actually it looked like a barn pus a house, both of which appeared to be ffenced-in. Also, note in the video that at no time do you see any light poles or overhead power cables. The area apparently was far too remote and uinhabited to allow for power lines. The house I passed at 6:20 had a solar cell panel next to it. At 6:50 into the video you'll see a lone wandering calf which had somehow managed to escape from one of the fenced-in fields which were on both sides of the road. At 7:13 is an image of Yokum Knob, which is easily visible from the road. Other images are captured later on in the video, and is more clearly seen at 8:30. And at 7:54 is a small pull-off to the right, which is a farm access road which leads to the entrance to the cave that runs under the road I was driving upon. On Saturday, June 4th, the Buckingham Branch Railroad's Buckingham Division hosted the James River Rambler excursion train for the Old Dominion Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. Having last visited with a video camera in 2002 when I carried an 8mm Handycam on the much shorter Santa Claus Special, I was eager for the opportunity to revisit the full length of the route in High Definition. After a few missed dates in the last couple of years it all finally came together, and the BB, the Old Dominion Chapter, and the weather did not disappoint! The clip opens Saturday morning at the BB's headquarters in Dillwyn as final preparations are made to the static display of BB 4 (ex-Air Force Baldwin RS4TC) and bay window caboose 222. Shortly before its scheduled 9 AM departure, the excursion consist pulled up to the station for boarding, led by GP7 1. After the Geep got a little TLC and all the passengers were on board, the train left on its leisurely run to Bremo - it looked like there wasn't a single empty seat in the house! The Buckingham Division tracks are closely followed for much of their distance by Route 15, and coupled with the don't-be-in-a-hurry pace of the train it made for an easy chase. For those of you wondering, the camera change is not permanent. I broke the USB arm off of my standard dashcam (the Flip) so I've been using my backup camera (my HTC g2) as my primary dashcam the last few days. All the clips you saw with that camera are from a 3 day period. The Flip is currently in a little tech shop in NE Portland, though despite being told I'd hear back with a price on Thrus/Fri, I have still heard nothing. Great. I have over 30 clips saved up on the Flip, so I'm pretty much ready for 49 already. I skidded in two of them... As for the dumbass pedestrians this week, I have this to say: when a big white SUV comes at you, don't walk in front of it. Just because I can brake for you doesn't mean I want to. School is about to start (yay...)! Tuesday is my first day back...I'll be a Junior in High School (also, yay...) As for my driving...I'm not sure how it'll turn out. This summer turned out to be a lot more driving than I had anticipated, because we have a tiny house (we've been trying to buy a bigger house since May) and I have 3 younger brothers. On Friday the 26th, I went to Watertown to meet up with Justin (Trainmasterkreks) and Evan (amtrakrules52) for a day of railfanning on the Canadian Pacific mainline. As soon as I arrived, parked my car and got out with bags of camera equipment draped all over me, they were waving their arms and shouting "TRAIN!" The howl of GE prime movers and a BWAAAAAARMP from a K5HL confirmed. I quickly dug out my digital still camera, which has a movie mode I can use as a backup (my regular camcorder would have taken too long to untangle the shoulder strap, remove the lens cap and power up) to record our first train, CP #282 east. Power was ES44ACs CP 8848 and 8886. Following that by about 30 minutes was another eastbound manifest whose ID we couldn't catch. It was led by ES44AC CP 8763, aided by sister 8788 and "Dual Flags" SD40-2 CP 6059. Next, the local train G67 out of Milwaukee came into town as light power, with GP38-2s Soo Line 4424 and CP 4507 (also in the CP Rail "Dual Flags" scheme). After that we moved to the River Road crossing on the east outskirts of town, where we heard the dispatcher hailing "LMIX 424 East." The intersection of Sunset Hills Rd and Hunter Mill Rd is a nightmare for evening commuters and local residents. The inability for vehicles to make a right turn from Sunset Hills Rd onto Hunter Mill even during green lights leads to a 30 minute backup. I took my camera out one evening to film the mess, but don't worry, I edited and sped up the video so you won't have to watch 30 minutes to see everything. These traffic delays are not the result of cars having no where to go. Later in the video you will see a short shot of the Dulles Toll Road as cars fly by. Meanwhile on Sunset Hills the cars stand still. The reason? Three lights stacked on top of each other, no spacing, narrow lanes, short or non existent turn lanes, and a two lane road through an area that receives more than four lanes of volume. The intersection needs to be improved, and its time for us to tell the people in charge to stop delaying.
